Another interesting revelation at the Detroit auto show is Subaru’s concept car for the 2010 Legacy model. The concept car at the Detroit show, with a few additional tweaks, is reportedly what the 2010 Legacy will look like when it goes on retail this summer.
In lieu of Legacy’s 20 years of production, Subaru car designers gave the 2010 model an even more distinctive front-end, large fender flares over all the wheels, headlamps with LED lights, and the large grille with the Subaru logo at the center. The 2010 model will also have a more aggressive look, with distinctive hood lines and slim fog lights, as compared to the current version of Legacy. The 2010 Legacy will also have wedge-shaped side rearview cameras to replace traditional mirrors, and character lines that run from the A-pillar to the rear tail lamps.
Like the earlier Legacy models, the 2010 Legacy’s interiors carries on the high-tech features with touch screens, monitor which shows the view from the rearview side cameras, entertainment system with screens at the back of the headrests. The seats are covered in pearl white leather, while the door panels are clothed in black metallic leather.
The 2010 Legacy’s dimensions is also bigger compared to the current model’s. The 2010 Legacy has a 108.3-inch wheelbase to allow bigger interior accommodations. This wheelbase is 3.2 inches longer than the current Legacy model. Unlike what is shown in the Legacy concept car, Subaru says that the production car will not be a four-seater and won’t have the 3.6-liter, six-cylinder boxer. According to the company, the engine lineup for the 2010 Legacy model will be similar to the engine found in the current model. The 2010 Legacy will be available to dealers this summer.
